Acne flares up during especially during summer. There are many factors that may affect acne outbreak, one of which is excessive production of oils in the skin. During summer, the natural oils in the skin are being dried by the heat of the sun. The sebaceous gland, which is responsible for producing sebum (oil), tends to produce more oils to compensate for the loss oil in the skin which then causes excessive oil production. When the sebaceous glands produce too much oil, the immune system of the body starts to think that these excess oils are foreign to the body and tries to eliminate them that causes inflammation which is also known as acne. That’s how acne is born.
Summer is supposed to be an exciting season intended to be enjoyed by everyone. There are many outdoor activities that can only be done during summer and people takes this chance also to show off their summer outfits that they’ve been preparing before the season comes. It only comes once a year so better get the most out of it.
But instead of enjoying summer, some people think about the consequences of exposing themselves under the heat of the sun. Surely, there are consequences such as acne outbreak and other skin issues because the harmful sun rays are harsh to the skin. But with all the consequences, there are always ways to prevent them and enjoy the summer that only comes once in a year. Here are three tips.
Deep Clean To Clear Clogged Pores
As said earlier, the sun dries the skin’s natural oil so it tends to produce more oil that clogs the pores. Clogged pores causes acne so they should be freed before they can develop acne. Use a cleansing brush to go deeper and cleanse the skin more efficiently. This will remove all the unwanted oils along with the dirt stuck deeper within the pores. Make sure to use cream or gel cleanser, those cleansers that form foam upon applying because water or dry cleansers might irritate the skin. Always remember to use only cleansers with ingredients good for the skin and never purchase strong cleansers with ingredients harsh to the skin.
Use Toner To Manage Oil
Use toner twice a day, in the morning and before going to bed. In the morning, use a toner pad with salicylic acid to double the effect. Aside from removing the excess oils, the toner pad with salicylic acid will also fight pimples. Use only light toners and don’t use those with ingredients harsh to the skin.
Kill Bacteria Before Building Up Acne
Don’t wait for the acne to appear before taking some actions. It might be only a matter of minutes to prevent acne outbreak so do something about it before it becomes severe. Every night before going to bed, apply thin layer of benzoyl peroxide as spot treatment to kill any bacteria that might be on the skin to avoid them from turning into acne. As they say, prevention is better than cure.
